Designed for Mr. and Mrs. Olivier in Lynnwood, Pretoria, the site slopes approximately 2 meters from the street level to the rear. The ground floor is terraced, creating a half-level reception area that connects to both the bedrooms on the first floor and the living spaces below. The entrance court’s wallplate extends over the living areas, resulting in a double-height living space that enhances the feeling of openness and volume. The eaves of the roof rake upward, drawing the sky into view and allowing louvered openings in the glass to let warm air escape from the interior.
